      Этимология: "The species name, ‘belegaerensis’ references the fictional ‘Great Sea’ Belegaer to the west of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth [33], paying homage to both the Tasman Sea which the new species inhabited, and the role of New Zealand in bringing Middle-Earth to the big screen" (op. cit., p. 2).
