      Etymology: Khamul  "named for the only Nazgl (sic!) specifically named by J.R.R. Tolkein (sic!), Khaml, the Shadow of the East (aka Black Easterling)" [after "Unfinished Tales of Nmenor and Middle-Earth"] (p. 25); Kh. gothmogi  "named in honor of Gothmog, Lord of the Balrogs, High Captain of Angband" [after "The Silmarillion"] (p. 29); Kh. tolkeini  "named in honor of J.R.R. Tolkein (sic!)" (p. 31).

      Обращает на себя внимание неправильное написание видового названия от фамилии Толкина: "tolkeini". Это не опечатка, Гэйт действительно пишет фамилию с ошибкой не только в видовом имени, но и в этимологии, и в списке литературы:


      Интересно, что такая ошибка встречается достаточно часто, и даже попала на посвящённую Толкину почтовую марку.

      род Shireplitis – "The first part of the name “Shire” refers to The Shire, the region exclusively inhabited by Hobbits in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fictional universe setting of Middle-earth (the genus is endemic to New Zealand, where a human replicate of The Shire is built). The second part of the name “plitis” refers to the superficial morphological similarities with the genus Paroplitis" (op. cit., p. 557);
